House WiP 4

Well these will be the "final" renders of the house for a bit. It's still a Work in progress, but I need to take a small break from it to see what other details I can add to it.

In the mean time, I'll be working on some models for a Tower Defense game a friend and I are working on, I'll have some renders up of those shortly.

House WiP 2

Here is another update on the house. Things that still need to be done are the basement windows, an attic window, a chimney, then fine detail stuff like gutters, wires, etc.

Image Dump 2

Decided to post all the pictures from my old site here, this is a lot easier to manage than a flash site. It'll still be up though, can be seen at: http://www.animationnb.com/07g/ghurd/

Without further ado, stuff:

First two are a set of playing cards, the King and Queen card, original props go to Lorenzo Sperlonga, reference images used with permission.

I modeled the Snes and controller separately, that's why they don't match. I was going to go back and indulge on the scene, but I seem to have lost it, which is really a shame.
Something I modeled while I was working on base, the RG31, aka Nyala. Happy with how it turned out, was imported into VBS2 and as far as I know, still being used for training purposes.
Just a face mask thing I did back in college, but I still like how it looks.

Low Poly Challenge

I've entered a "low poly challenge" at the polycount forums (http://boards.polycount.net/). It's running until the end of September, but I thought I'd get an early start in case I wanted to do a second entry. Anywho, just wanted to throw up some WiPs I'm working on. 3 Guesses to who it is. First 2 don't count.

New Bar in Town.

My roommate just acquired a new teak bar. He's very retro, so I made this sign for him to hang up above his bar. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, and I think it'll look nice hanging up downstairs.

Image Dump

Here are some screen captures of the game I was working on at my previous place of employment. I modeled and textured everything you see on screen unless stated otherwise. We had pretty strict poly restrictions and texture sizes.

So firstly, we have the pizza bros pizza shop, was probably one of my favorite areas to work on for obvious reasons.
In this picture, I just did the pirate ship and everything hanging off of it you see, this was one of my first exterior buildings I worked on.

The Holy Bit was fun to work on, there's some animations here that you can't really appreciate. There's also some NPCs that are missing that would really make the place look better, but oh well.

Wicked Emporium, not much to say here.

This place WAS the most fun to work on, lots of animations and lots of lights. The game engine didn't handle translucency so well, that's why some of the lights are layered weird. If you could see this place animating, you can take my word on it, it's wicked. I made everything but the NPC in the pod.

The Fire and Ice bar was interesting. Wish the inside could have been built, but wasn't in the schedule.

Another one of my firsts.

This was also another first, but I really like how it turned out.
The Golden Stitch, one of the various clothing stores in the game. Not much to say about it.
Semi-authentic Mexican food anyone?
The Drive-Thru wedding chapel. Too bad there were no cars in the game.

Here's a bit of texture work. Not as much as I would have liked to get done, but I had a few other things to take care of first. Also started drawing again, really really REALLY rough sketches right now, but when I get something worth showing, I'll scan it in and post it.

The Realm of the Unemployed!

Well I found out today, I no longer have a job to go back to. So my natural instinct was to start working on some 3D stuff to add to my portfolio. Been working on a few things lately, but nothing I could really skin my teeth into. I started working on this classic looking radio. Just a WIP right now, I plan to test out some normal mapping stuff on it, get the details for the screen and the notches for the handles. It's just a learning experience. Some texturing, and hopefully normal mapping tomorrow.
